Service Learning/Hour Opportunities

POSTION:

Sport Management Internship
Sport Marketing Internship

GOAL:

Annapolis Soccer Club / Goals for Growth is seeking student volunteers or interns to help the overall management and execution of the spring, fall and winter soccer seasons. Areas of opportunity include: coaching, tutoring, marketing, social media, field maintenance, event planning and more. The individual can experience one or all areas of work.

TARGET:

Candidates should possess somewhat of a soccer background and have an interest in sport management, event management or social media.

BENEFITS FROM POSITION:

College internship credit, experience and knowledge in the sports industry, the ability to see and manage operations in a soccer club, The opportunity to test your creativity and responsibility, ETC.

TIME COMMITMENT:

Sport Management Internship:
5 hours a week for a duration of 12 weeks

Sport Marketing Internship: 
5 hours a week for a duration of 12 weeks

Assistant coach/Junior Coach Opportunity

POSTION:

ASC Junior Coach

GOAL:

Develop an ongoing program utilizing juniors and seniors from local high schools willing to help as
assistant coaches.  Many coaches are volunteers but need good assistants to help them out when they’re late, out with
work, vacations, etc.  Juniors and seniors who play the sport bring great ideas with drills, etc., and can be
a good mentor and conduit between the kids and the parent coach.

TARGET:

The ideal applicants are high school juniors and seniors from local high schools surrounding the Annapolis area. (Annapolis High School, St. Mary's High School, Severn High School, Broadneck High school, Key School, ETC.)

AGE GROUP:

Most Junior Coaches will be working with U12 Teams or older. However if there is interest shown to work with the younger ages, arrangements will be made to accommodate.

Gaining service hours for college applications, A solid Resume builder, A wonderful way to gain experience in the coaching world, knowledge on how to run and manage a soccer team, building a networking base, ETC.

TIME COMMITMENT:

ASC would love for the junior coaches to be available for every practice and game during the current seasons. However, We understand that being high school students you have a lot on your plate between sports, school work and life. ASC asks that the junior coaches communicate with their corresponding coach to work out a plan to accommodate your busy schedules so you can make all the practices and games. We ask that you commit to approximately 2-4 hours a week, and  20-40 hours a season

Field Lining

POSITION:

Field Lining 

GOAL:

Responsible for upkeep and maintenance of painted soccer lines on local fields in Annapolis

TARGET:

High School students in the local Annapolis area who are willing to help out ASC with maintenance and lining of the ASC soccer fields

BENEFITS FROM POSITION:

This position offerers many benefits to your success as a student and a person. They are as listed as followed but not limited to:
Gaining service hours for college applications, A solid Resume builder, and a great way to help out the community.

OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION:

The applicant is responsible for field lining at local fields in the Annapolis area. They must be dependable, reliable, organized, and a timely individual who has transportation too and from. Students will complete weekly lining in preparation of game days on the weekends. Using equipment to trace existing lines.

TIME COMMITMENT:

ASC asks for the applicant to part take in approximately 2 hours a week for 10 weeks and 20 hours per season in this position

Field Maintenance

POSITION:

Field Maintenance

GOAL:

Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of soccer fields in Annapolis, includes game day set-up and breakdown.

TARGET:

High School students in the local Annapolis area who are willing to help out ASC with maintenance and set up and breakdowns of the ASC soccer fields

BENEFITS FROM POSITION:

This position offers many benefits to your success as a student and a person. They are as listed as followed but not limited to:
Gaining service hours for college applications, A solid Resume builder, and a great way to help out the community.

OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION:

The applicant is responsible for the preparation and breakdown of game fields on a weekly basis for the entire season. Approximately 1 hour of set-up and 1 hour of breakdown weekly. Set-up includes setting up goals, securing nets, placing corner flags and staging trashcans. Breakdown includes the removal of corner flags, trash and debris.

TIME COMMITMENT:

ASC asks for the applicant to part take in approximately 2 hours a week for 10 weeks and 20 hours per season in this position

Goals for Growth Junior Coach

POSITON:

Goals for Growth Junior Coach 

GOAL:

Assist middle school students in an afterschool mentorship program, by coaching, tutoring, and mentoring these students.

TARGET:

The target applicants are soccer players with some background in the coaching/mentoring industry, a preference in speaking Spanish but not required, and 15-18 years old.

BENEFITS FROM POSITION:

This position offerers many benefits to your success as a student and a person. They are as listed as followed but not limited to:
Gaining an insight on the mentorship programs, learning how to be a valuable asset to a players life, a solid resume builder, experience in the coaching world. ETC.

OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION:

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
A
ttend one or two practices per week for a weekly commitment of approximately 2-4 hours (20 or 40 hours for the semester), assist with the facilitation of the day's lesson plan by setting up and breaking down games and lessons, participate in games and activities with the students as a role model, work with head coaches and volunteers to create a positive learning environment, help plan and coordinate the team's end of the season party.

TIME COMMITMENT:

ASC recognizes the busy schedule of high school students and is understandable of the fact that you may not be able to make every single practice.
We ask that this position has a time commitment of approximately 2-4 hours a week, and  20-40 hours a season depending on the availability of applicant.
