The FCKLL COVID team has reviewed the new guidance from the CDC and Governor Northam, as well as recent announcements from our local school systems regarding the continued impact COVID is having on our youth.
Today, we are pleased to provide this update, effective for today’s FCKLL events and going forward:
- Fully vaccinated, distanced spectators need not mask. We ask that unvaccinated spectators continue to mask, and that all mask when in close proximity to players and those outside their family.
- Players are not yet vaccinated and should continue to mask at all times when outside the field of play and anytime 6’ of distance is not possible. Pitchers and catchers continue to have the option to remove masks on the field. We know that masks for any player may fall down “between the white lines” of the field or during active play. When that happens, players should pull their mask up at the next opportunity.
- Volunteers, umpires, and coaches should still wear masks. Despite the minimal risk of a vaccinated adult transmitting the virus, this is good role-modeling for our players, and we ask everyone interacting with players to follow the same guidelines we have in place for our players.
- Bleachers and areas behind the dugout are still for players and team personnel only.
Everyone should continue to:
- Complete pre-screenings, even if you are vaccinated
- Practice good social distancing and hygiene measures
- Stay home when in doubt or experiencing any symptoms
- Respect one another and differing opinions, and follow the direction from the League
